Congress Members Should Have to Accept Same Deal

Recently, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan.It took me less than a minute to sign up to require our congressmen and senators to drink at the same trough. Three cheers for Congressman John Fleming of Louisiana !

Congressman John Fleming ( Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same healthcare plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt).

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and Sign his petition. Although you can enter other information, the only thing required is an email address. It will help if you will select your state from the list, but that is not required. Cast your vote yes or no whether congress should have to abide by the same rules they are putting on the rest of the American people.  Cast Your Vote

Step up and have some input into this issue whether your vote would be yes or no! If we are to expected to live by the rules our lawmakers put on us, then they should have to live by those same rules. If Congress forces this on the American people, then Congress should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families. Why should they and their families get special treatment?

Health Care Bill Votes

Submitted by .Sean (Fired Up! Missouri)

Early this morning (01:08 AM), Senate Democrats and independents approved a procedural cloture motion by a 60-40 vote.  Senators voted m. while seated at their desks, a rarely used practice implemented only for historic votes.

There are two more procedural votes scheduled on the bill this week, and the final vote is currently slated for 7pm. Christmas Eve. Then, of course, Senate and House negotiators will have to meld their bills together for a final compromise.

Sen. McCaskill vote Yea, Sen. Bond voted Nay.

Saturday, Dec 19, 1:42 P.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT:  Hello.  Good afternoon, everybody.  You know that I am from Chicago, so let me first say that with the place where I live covered with snow I’m finally starting to feel like home.  And I am sorry to drag you guys out in this weather, but I wanted to speak briefly to you about the significant progress that we’ve made on two of the major challenges facing the American people:  the crushing cost of health care and our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels.

On health care, with today’s developments it now appears that the American people will have the vote they deserve on genuine reform that offers security to those who have health insurance and affordable options to those for do not.  And so I want to thank Senator Harry Reid and every senator who’s been working around the clock to make this happen.
