In Memory of Chris Sifford
Governor Mel Carnahan came to rely on a special young man as both employee and close friend. The young man was Christopher Dale Sifford, who served the Missouri governor as Communications Director, Chief of Staff, and senior aide. Chris Sifford knew his place was by the side of Carnahan when the governor decided to run for the United States Senate. Sifford resigned as Chief of Staff and took on the job of senior aide.
On October 16, 2000, as they rode to a Democratic rally in New Madrid, MO, on a Cessna plane piloted by the governor’s son, Roger “Randy” Carnahan, the plane dropped off radar and crashed just southwest of Hillsboro, MO.
