President on Health Care and Climate Change
Saturday, Dec 19, 1:42 P.M. EST
THE PRESIDENT: Hello. Good afternoon, everybody. You know that I am from Chicago, so let me first say that with the place where I live covered with snow I’m finally starting to feel like home. And I am sorry to drag you guys out in this weather, but I wanted to speak briefly to you about the significant progress that we’ve made on two of the major challenges facing the American people: the crushing cost of health care and our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels.
On health care, with today’s developments it now appears that the American people will have the vote they deserve on genuine reform that offers security to those who have health insurance and affordable options to those for do not. And so I want to thank Senator Harry Reid and every senator who’s been working around the clock to make this happen. Read the rest of this entry »
Share the Harvest
Gov. Nixon announces initiative to expand Share the Harvest, help families in need across Missouri
ASHLAND, Mo. – Share the Harvest, a public-private partnership that provides meat to families in need across Missouri, expects to increase its annual collection of venison by more than 75 percent over the next three years, using economic incentives awarded today by Gov. Jay Nixon.
“As Missourians of all ages head to the woods for opening weekend of firearms deer season, I encourage folks to contribute venison to Share the Harvest,” Gov. Nixon said, who will hunt in Clark County, Mo., on opening weekend. “Sharing the harvest is a great way to enjoy a time-honored Missouri tradition while also fulfilling a critical need for fresh, healthy meat in food banks across Missouri. By donating a deer to Share the Harvest, Missourians are literally putting food on the table for families in need during the holiday season.” Read the rest of this entry »
Elizabeth Olten Found Dead
St. Martins, MO – After missing for two days, Elizabeth Olten, age 9, was found dead Friday not far from Jefferson City, Missouri, on Friday. A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody.
Family members describe Elizabeth as happy, outgoing, afraid of the dark, and an angel.
Due to the signal transmitting from her cell phone, the police were able to narrow the two-day search and find Elizabeth’s body.
Treasure Found in Puxico
Publisher Linda Sedrick Pearson of PS Publishing (located in Fisk, MO) has unearthed a new treasure in Puxico, Missouri. The treasure is a new author of children’s books, Betty Buttry.
Betty’s new book, The Water Pot, was unveiled today at Country Blessings in Puxico. The book is a Christian children’s book and the story is from the point of view of a yellow water pot.
As Yellow Water Pot discusses the exciting event of an upcoming wedding with five friends
(who are also water pots), they find that they are invited to attend! Jesus calls for them specifically to help perform his first miracle – turning water into wine!
Betty Buttry, the author, started writing for her children and grandchildren. Betty lives in Puxico and has many more stories to tell. She is excited to be able to share her children’s stories with her young readers.
Betty’s granddaughter, Shannon Buttry Alsup, illustrated The Water Pot while still a young girl in school. Shannon thinks it is wonderful to be able to share this experience with her grandmother.
The Water Pot is available for purchase from the author, at Country Blessings, and from the publisher, PS Publishing. For more information, contact PS Publishing, (573-967-3271) or visit the web site at www.pspublishing.com.

Qulin News is Back
We apologize to all of our readers and to those who have contributed content for this web site. We have been fighting with our web hosting service for two days. They took our site down saying we had a script running on our site that was causing problems. When we checked that file was not there. When the support person checked, the file was not there. Still the site remained down.
The interesting thing was that I have four sites on which I posted my The Face of America article. By the next morning all four sites were down. Any other site I have that I did not post that article on yet was left alone and is still running normally.
I’m beginning to think it is a freedom of speech issue. So, to get this site back up, I purchased a hosting reseller solution from another company and can now host my own web sites. I worked almost all night getting the www.lordshelpers.com site back up. I just got the Qulin News site up this morning. I have two more that I need to work on, but I have to take a rest for a while. I am still working on trying to recreate the content that was on the site, but I had forgotten to download a recent database backup. The old hoster won’t give me access to the database on a service I have paid for through May 2010. (Wonder if that is grounds for legal litigation….hmmm)
Thank you to all our readers who made Qulin News a success since the first day we went live. We hope we did not lose you as readers.
Sincerely,
Linda Sedrick Pearson
